Dr. Ortiz-Baker is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in treating adults with anxiety disorders, depression and a wide variety of relational problems. With over 15 years of experience helping people alter unhealthy thinking and relationship patterns, she combines compassion, exploration and skill-building in order to facilitate practical change. She empowers others to find confidence in practicing skills that make a difference in their day-to-day mental health.
Dr. Ortiz-Baker uses a compassionate approach in working through trauma which involves validating and exploring safety, power, control, esteem and intimacy. She also uses exposure therapy which involves facing the trauma directly. Clients gradually confront distressing memories, emotions, and situations related to the trauma. The goal is to reduce avoidance and fear responses, leading to symptom relief.
Dr. Ortiz-Baker skillfully assists her clients to incorporate their personal resources into treatment including their faith, culture and personal strengths and interests. For those who identify as Christian, she enjoys integrating principles of her Christian faith as a way to help others heal emotionally and spiritually.
